I first came into contact with Pastor Muzzam in Norwich at a 'Missions Conference' under the auspices of the "International Gospel Outreach" of which I am an Ordained Minister. As a result of our meeting Pastor Muzzam graciously provided an invitation for me to visit his home and speak at several churches in the Karachi area. On arrival in Karachi, Pakistan what struck me most was the immense 'size and business' of the city, but I soon came to understand the method and lifestyle of those who were to care for me during my short stay It was clear from the outset that I really needed to give specific attention to the specific word which was to be the focus of the next few days. During my stay I was taken to several districts in Karachi. From Dastgir to Taiser, Jinnah, Zia in addition to speaking four times during the Seminar which was held over a two day period. I soon became massively aware of the needs of the people, their quality of life and the very presence of their individuality.
Clearly, as I met with so many I began to understand in a new way their massive understanding of the reality of what it was to be a Christian in the world today. I met individuals like 'Mathaliah' and others who were completely committed to the Gospel of the Lord Jesus Christ. There was something different, it was a a committment which came out of a simple desire to meet everday life in a way that provided for their very existance. I have no regrets in admitting that my visit to Karachi and Pastor Muzzam had an immense effect upon my own life and ministry.
It became acutely obvious during my short stay that Jesus was real, this was not image worship or even a superfical understanding, worked out within attendance at church, for the individuals I met, lived and worshiped with, Jesus was real, worship was real. He simply had to be! This understanding became the Vision and the Project.
For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life. For God sent not his Son into the world to condemn the world; but that the world through him might be saved. He that believeth on him is not condemned: but he that believeth not is condemned already, because he hath not believed in the name of the only begotten Son of God.
John 3:16-18 KJV
For I am not ashamed of the gospel of Christ: for it is the power of God unto salvation to every one that believeth; to the Jew first, and also to the Greek. For therein is the righteousness of God revealed from faith to faith: as it is written, The just shall live by faith.
Romans 1:6-7 KJV
1Jn 5:1 Whosoever believeth that Jesus is the Christ is born of God: and every one that loveth him that begat loveth him also that is begotten of him. By this we know that we love the children of God, when we love God, and keep his commandments. For this is the love of God, that we keep his commandments: and his commandments are not grievous. For whatsoever is born of God overcometh the world: and this is the victory that overcometh the world, even our faith. Who is he that overcometh the world, but he that believeth that Jesus is the Son of God?
